Privacy Policy

Visitors

This policy applies to all visitors of The Windy City Dispatch. Since the site has no accounts, no subscriptions that actually work, and no comment section, “visitor” covers everyone.

Personal Information / Data

The Windy City Dispatch makes a conscious effort to collect as little personal information as possible. We don’t ask for your name, your email (the newsletter form is decorative), or your opinions on deep-dish pizza. No personal data is stored on any server, because there is no server — this is a static site made of plain HTML files and quiet desperation.

The only analytics in use are provided by Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused service that does not use cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not collect personal information. Plausible provides aggregate data only — things like page views and referral sources — with no way to identify individual visitors. You can read Plausible’s data policy for more details.

Cookies

There are no cookies on this site. Not a single one. No tracking cookies, no session cookies, no “we value your privacy” banner cookies. The Windy City Dispatch is a cookie-free establishment — which, given that this is a Chicago publication, feels like a missed opportunity. We could have at least offered you a Portillo’s chocolate cake cookie. But no. You get nothing. Not even a crumb of data collection.

If your browser is telling you otherwise, that’s between you and your browser, and we suggest you take it up with them directly.

Third-Party Services

The only third-party service integrated into this site is:

  1. Plausible Analytics — Privacy-focused, cookieless web analytics. No personal data collected. Privacy policy.

That’s it. That’s the list.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, it will be updated here. Given that the site is a static April Fools’ joke, the odds of that happening are roughly equivalent to the Chicago River deciding to flow in a third direction.
